At Barwon Heads Primary School we have a strong belief that it is important, in addition to academics, that we educate our students socially and emotionally, with the purpose of enabling them to flourish both at primary school and in their life beyond school.
Positive Emotions: I use many words to express emotions
Engagement: I make the most of my learning opportunities
Relationships: I accept, understand and empathise with others
Meaning: I belong to a world bigger than myself
Accomplishment: I have a growth mindset
Each week we focus on one of the Character Strengths or one of the arms of our PERMA. Our community are involved by following our wellbeing blog: https://wellbeingforprimaryschoolstudents.edublogs.org/
In addition, our teachers teach an explicit lesson related to an area of wellbeing identified in our scope & sequence.
We have a dedicated Mental health and Wellbeing Leader who supports both staff and students with social and emotional learning.
Our aim is to equip our students with a toolbox of strategies that they can use to be resilient and lead happy and meaningful lives.
