To The School Community,
Welcome back to the term, I can’t believe we are over the 1/2 way mark of 2019. Time seems to be flying for us with our wonderful students growing all of the time. After each holiday there is always a handful of students who have had a significant growth spurt of the holidays.
Reporting Process
I would again like to thank you for your participation in the Parent/Teacher Information Sessions last term. If for some reason you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher about their learning please organise a time early this term.
As a school, we will continue our commitment to providing regular sharing of goals and progress throughout the term. You can expect our Conference Notes cycle to be shared in week 5 and 10 of this term.
I appreciate the effort families went to in providing us with feedback about Conference Notes and goal setting. Your thoughts and ideas will add value to this initiative and help us refine the model. there has been a great deal of positive feedback and some food for thought that our Team Leaders will use to tweak the current model.
Parent Opinion Survey
A random sample of 175 families were sent the Parent Opinion Survey to complete. This is an important set of data that enables us to look for patterns of success and improvement when linked to student and staff data collected about the FISO model schools are structured around. You can learn more about the FISO Model using this link: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/management/improvement/Pages/improvement-model.aspx
NEW STAFF MEMBERS
You will see a new face in the office! Lynn Cowlishaw comes to us from Lakeview (College Caroline Springs) via Newcomb Secondary College and is an experienced school administrator. We are very pleased to have Lynn on board and hope that you can take the time to touch base with her in the office next time you’re at school.
2020 Prep Enrolments
Enrolments for next year are starting to come past my desk. So far we have 36 enrolments for our Foundation ( Prep) class. This is a little down on this time last year but expected with lower 4yo kinder enrolments. If you haven’t enrolled please do so ASAP as it will help plan accurately for the 2020 school year.
At the end of August, we will begin to correspond with families about our transition program and school events to ensure a smooth journey towards 2020. If you haven’t enrolled by this time you may miss crucial information and dates.
NAIDOC WEEK
NAIDOC week occurs during the mid-year break each year. It is an important week for our nation that is important to acknowledge with our children. With the help of our wonderful teachers, especially Bu Tabone, the students have been engaging in learning about our Indigenous History and significant events experienced by the aboriginal people.
This week’s assembly will focus on NAIDOC week activities and been delivered by a group of year 5/6 students plus some special guests. I hope that you can make it.
Enjoy the rest of the week! – remember to check our Compass and Website calendar for upcoming events.
