Self-belief

“I know what I believe in and I wonder about the world I live in”.

This is the VIA Character Strength known as “Spirituality.”  At BHPS we decided that Self-belief would be more appropriate for primary school aged children. Self-belief is about having an inner confidence that enables people to understand their purpose and realize that their beliefs shape their actions.  Self-esteem has some connections to self-belief. This is how we value ourselves; it is how we perceive our value to the world and how valuable we think we are to others. Self-esteem refers to the confidence in one’s own worth or abilities and affects our trust in others, our relationships, our work – nearly every part of our lives. It is really important that children are praised for their efforts and not their talents and that any praise given is meaningful. People with high levels of self-esteem are at risk of being narcissist
