From Daniel’s Desk

To the School Community,
Leading into the last week of school I wanted to take the time to thank the students, their families and staff for making the school year productive and positive.

Student Learning is always at the centre of what we do at Barwon Heads PS. Any decision that we make or action we take has the intention of improving the education of every student.

This semester I have noticed that the students have been linking their learning to culminating activities that they share with the wider community. Yesterday, the year 1 students shared their information reports which was a highlight. The year 4’s produced musical instruments from recycled materials that they shared at assembly and will use to compose and perform some music.

Our Music program has gone from strength to strength with teachers building their capacity to incorporate music into the classroom. I look forward to the prep and year 1 students perform on June 26th, they need to arrive at school at 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm performance.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

Please remember to obey parking laws around the school and surrounding streets. In recent weeks there have been a number of drop offs and pick ups near and sometimes in the no parking zones connected to the pedestrian crossing.

Please remind your children that using the crossing in Golf Links road is the only option for crossing – encourage them to walk all the way to the crossing rather that cross at other points on Golf Links Road.

Before School Care

Term 3 will see the introduction of Before School Care at Barwon Heads Primary School.

Responding to community feedback we have negotiated a trial for the remainder of the school year. More information about the program will be forwarded to families shortly but the longevity of the program relies on the number of students attending.

Please remember to check the Compass and Website for important dates and information. This week you would have received posts about student reporting and recently parent teacher interviews.

This Friday at 2:45 we are delivering a How to Use Compass Workshop that will be repeated as an evening workshop early in term 3.

The last day of term is 29th June and school will finish at 2:30pm

Have a terrific weekend!

Daniel Vella
