To the School Community,
I hope that the week since my last Blog has been a positive one.
I would like to thank those who were able to attend the parent session last week where we discussed our POS Ed strategy and the status of Lunch orders/Canteen at our school. Lots of ideas, affirmation and questions came of the forum that will be passed onto the relevant committees of School Council and staff to consider further.
I mentioned that here would be an opportunity to share your views and ideas. The link to a general survey, identical to the one issued this time last year, aims to capture current thinking and perceptions. Last year the idea of music came from this survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9RTPH9D ( Copy and paste into your web browser)
School Council
The April School Council meeting was an energising session, with Councillors discussing agenda items ranging from enrolment strategies to capturing a snapshot of the extracurricular activities students experience at our school. We have had initial discussions about developing partnerships with communities outside of Barwon Heads to respond to the data about our school from students and parents hoping to engage our students in understanding the diversity that exists in our world.
The Education Committee is embarking on an evaluation of the IPAD program at our school with the intention to build a greater understanding of how the impact on learning, a long term investigation.
NAPLAN
The annual participation n NAPLAN is looming with our year 3 and 5 students completing the assessments during the week beginning 14th May. We encourage all students to participate with the information gathered during the process being used to inform teaching and learning at BHPS.
Parent information will be distributed soon. If you require further info please see you child’s teacher.
The Attitude to School Survey and Australian Early Development Census are important data collection tools that are also used to create a snapshot of our students. The Attitude to School Survey will be completed by our year 4-6 students to help us understand what the students feel about different elements of their schooling that relate to their overall experience at school.
Enrolment Information for 2019
Enrolment at BHPS is a simple task that requires prospective families or current families enroling siblings to complete an enrolment form. I will be delivering copies of the Preparing to Enrol information booklet to Bop Bop Karong and other Kindergartens connected to our school this Friday. Please encourage family and friends to complete the enrolment process ASAP to ensure we can properly prepare for our transition program later this year.
This Friday is an Assembly Week! Please check the events Calendar on Compass and our Website for info about upcoming events.
Regards
Daniel
