To the School Community,
The first week of the school year has been positive with all students settling well and classes developing the very important routines that will set the tone for the school year.
Congratulations to our 2018 Prep students who have completed their first day of school on Wednesday 7th of Feb. The transition program delivered in partnership between the school and Bop Bop Karrong has been a success with the students demonstrating that they are familiar with the school and their teachers.
In my travels around the school I have seen the classes develop their Classroom Libraries which are the heart beat of our reading program. The Classroom Library is a resource that your children will continually use in their independent reading and purposeful reading activities. To support the initiative we will be running a book drive where you can donate unwanted books from you home collection or donate a new book to your child’s class. Look out for this in the next couple of weeks.
I would like to congratulate the students in year 3-6 for their participation in the Ocean Awareness program. Delivered by Surf Sessions in conjunction with the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club the program covers many safety elements that need to be considered when using the ocean or the river. Students also experience opportunities to swim and use devices like paddle boards to make the experience practical and improve their skills in the water.
Remember that assembly will not be held on Friday 9th of February. Replacing assembly this week will be an opportunity to meet the Parent Partners for your Child’s class and understand a little more about the possibilities of the initiative.
The Classroom Music Program kicks off this Friday, I look forward to observing the students learning about music and enjoying the experience.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
Daniel
